Before you start
You’ll need access to the account where your domain is registered today.A domain can’t be transferred within 60 days of its registration or a previous transfer. It must also be unlocked and not expired.
1
Unlock the domain at your current provider
Log in to your current domain provider and turn off the domain lock (it may be called “registrar lock” or “transfer lock”). A locked domain can’t be transferred.
2
Get the EPP code
At your current provider, request the domain’s EPP code (also called an auth code or transfer code). It’s a password that proves you own the domain. Keep it private.
3
Check the contact email
Make sure the email address on the domain’s contact details is one you can read. Transfer messages may be sent there.
Order the transfer
1
Open Transfer in a Domain
Log in to the Client Area, click Domains in the top menu, then click Transfer in a Domain in the Actions sidebar on the left.
2
Enter the domain and EPP code
Type the domain name and paste the EPP code exactly as you received it.
3
Check out and pay
Complete checkout and pay the invoice. The transfer starts once payment is confirmed.
What a transfer costs
A transfer costs the same as renewing that domain extension for 1 year. Every transfer adds 1 year to your domain’s registration, and you keep the time you had left with your previous provider. For example, if your domain had 4 months left, it will have 1 year and 4 months left after the transfer. When the transfer finishes, the domain appears on your My Domains page.Common problems
The transfer was rejected
The transfer was rejected
The most common causes are a wrong EPP code or a domain that’s still locked. Check both at your current provider, then open a ticket so we can retry.

A transfer doesn’t change your nameservers. If something stopped working, check whether the nameservers were changed. See Change your nameservers.
